Sunday

I have been away from the Magic Garden for a week up at my parents’ home in the north west of Scotland. I am pleased to be back home and have brought back a couple of old solar chickens and two wind spinners to add to the Magic Garden.

Saturday

Hot and sunny today.I harvested a bowlful of tomatoes and around a kg of blackberries and then thought Ben had it about right and sat down for a bit! I also watered a chunk of the garden as we have not had real rainfall for a while now.

Thursday

We are basking under grey skies with the foghorn going but it remains humid and warm. I’m having to water the new crops of salad and the cauliflowers for next year. The crop of tomatoes is pleasing and makes up for the courgettes failing. The cucumbers and peppers might produce properly given a few more months! The peas have done well.

Saturday

We appear to be having an Indian summer and I spent the afternoon in the Magic Garden planting out vegetable containers and a few more perennials into the side path.

Monday

Its been dry all day despite very threatening looking skies for most of it. I’ve spent a lot of it in the Magic Garden and have tidied up a long the path to to the black elder and planted out various plants bought on clearance from B&Q.

Sunday

We enjoyed a little bit of time between rain showers (again) in the Magic Garden watching the birds who are enjoying the rowan berries as well as the offerings in the feeders.

Saturday

I spent all afternoon in the front garden tidying up & cutting the holly, roses and hazel back. I then had some fun watching Ben, nsects and birds in the Magic Garden

Monday

I’ve planted out three variations of kale in the hope that one lot will survive the combination of slugs, snails and pigeons plaguing the Magic Garden. The remaining courgette plant is producing slowly as are the peas despite the decimation of their leaves.

Saturday

I did some emergency repair works today to the arbour seat as its roof is disintegrating. I think I need to find something to hold it together for a bit longer but in the meantime I have put some new wooden batons in place. I also did a slug removal from the lettuce patch and planted out the new black kale and curly kale plants - which I suspect will be eaten through by tomorrow despite their copper collars.

Sunday

We’ve had a sunny afternoon and a hint of warmth. Ben has been out almost all day & has reclaimed the back corner for himself. I’ve planted out a few more of my half-price selections from B&Q

I was slightly taken back to find I have Harlequin (Asian) ladybirds in my Magic Garden

Saturday

More wet but a little bit of sunshine of finish the afternoon - I gathered more blackberries & picked some rowan berries to make liqueur & then enjoyed watching the bees while Ben enjoyed a nap

Thursday

We have had real warmth today with some sunshine too - feeling like August, almost!

I took advantage of an afternoon off to trim back the next bit of the rose at the back and pruned the black elder & blackcurrent bush. I’ve treated myself to a few new plants including a hydrangea that has gone into the patch at the back where Ben’s catnip patch is.
